My Favorite Roller Bottle Recipes for KidsI love making roller bottles with essential oils, mostly because of how convenient it is to apply them that way. But also for our kids, it allows us to apply the oils to their skin, already diluted with fractionated coconut oil. This makes a very safe way to use oils for children, given that essential oils are potent and a little bit goes a long way. Here are five of my favorite roller bottle recipes for kids:

Clear Breathing Blend

  • 10 drops Cardamom
  • 10 drops Eucalyptus
  • 10 drops Frankincense
  • 10 drops Lime

No Cough Blend

  • 10 drops Eucalyptus
  • 10 drops Lime
  • 10 drops Cypress
  • 10 drops Rosemary
  • 10 drops Marjoram

Happy Tummy Blend

  • 10 drops Fennel
  • 10 drops Cardamom
  • 10 drops Peppermint (only use 5 drops in children younger than 5 and omit in small babies)

Owie Ear Blend

  • 10 drops Basil
  • 10 drops Melaleuca
  • 5 drops Helichrysum
  • 5 drops Frankincense

Apply around the outside of the ear (not in the ear).

Skin Relief Blend

  • 10 drops Helichrysum
  • 10 drops Melaleuca
  • 20 drops Lavender

Seasonal Sniffles Blend

  • 10 drops Lemon
  • 10 drops Peppermint (use only 2 drops for children younger than 5)
  • 10 drops Lavender

Sleepy Time Blend

  • 10 drops Lavender
  • 10 drops Vetiver
  • 10 drops Frankincense

All of these amounts are for a 10mL roller bottle. Add the drops, then fill the rest of the bottle up with fractionated coconut oil.

Note about Peppermint oil: there are some sources that recommend that peppermint not be used in children younger than 5 or 6. Certainly I recommend doing some research and going with what you feel comfortable with. I can say from my experience that we have always used peppermint with our daughter and I’ve always felt fine about it, we just diluted it heavily with coconut oil.

These are blends that I’ve used and seen work wonders. It’s amazing to me how these natural remedies can help with so many different every day health situations, and that they can be used by the entire family.
