Fertility Smoothie Recipe

Happy Fertile Friday!! In my ongoing quest to look into all things that can boost fertility, I have been looking at some of the “supplemental foods” aka superfoods, that can help fertility. I’ve been experimenting with how to get these extras into my diet each day, given that I am also taking a bunch of supplements for adrenals, antioxidants, prenatals etc. I have come up with this smoothie recipe that I think is pretty yummy and super healthy – it’s a good way to get maximum nutrition with minimum pill taking!! So here it is, my fertility smoothie recipe:-

The Naturopathic Mama’s Fertility Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon bee pollen granules
  • 1 teaspoon royal jelly with bee pollen and propolis in raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon hemp hearts
  • 2 teaspoons raw cacao powder
  • 2 scoops pastured whey protein2 teaspoons maca powder
  • Vanilla or hazelnut stevia (to taste)

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!! It’s so filling, so nourishing, and pull of good things for anyone, not just those trying to get pregnant.

What do all these things do?

Almond or coconut milk are simply low-allergen bases – you could use water too but it wouldn’t be as creamy; or hazelnut or hemp milk. If you had access to organic raw milk you could use that too. I’m going to try it with 1/2 goat kefir and 1/2 water next time I get fresh kefir in.

Bee products are known to help fertility – I have a Royal Jelly that contains bee pollen and propolis; I also got Bee Pollen granules separately, and right now am adding both to my smoothie. I love the way the granules taste, they’re kind of nutty, and the Royal jelly in honey base adds some sweetness to the smoothie.

Hemp hearts are a great source of protein and also omega-3 fatty acids, and they also add a great nutty taste. I get the raw shelled hemp seeds (aka the hearts) which are highest in nutritional value.

Raw cacao powder I add mostly for it’s chocolate-y flavor; but raw cacao has help-giving benefits too, especially as an antioxidant.

Whey protein – I have been using the Bulletproof Upgraded Whey Protein because it’s made from grass-fed cows, which I really like. It’s not grainy and blends well, although it doesn’t have any particular flavor so you want to add whatever flavor you like best.

Maca powder – maca powder is known as a fertility booster, through balancing and supporting hormones. It doesn’t taste the best, so we just try to hide it in there, but it’s worth it for what it can bring.

Stevia – I love the liquid flavored stevia. I usually put hazelnut in my coffee, so I use vanilla in my smoothies just for variety. The liquid stevia by Sweetleaf comes in a ton of flavors (I just noticed English toffee too, I haven’t tried that one yet!).

This is a powerful combination of nature’s best nutrients and superfoods. Of course you can adapt it to your own tastes, but I’ve been using this combination for a while now and am really loving it. Cheers!!
