My Morning Detox Routine
Sep 12, 2016I usually sneak out of bed pretty early – right now it’s 6.10am and the house is quiet – I love having this 1/2 hour or an hour to get a start on my day before the pitter patter of little feet emerging from the bedroom gets me away from the computer and to the couch for morning snuggles! I use this time also to get a start on my daily routine – most of all, getting some detox helpers in first thing as often these things do best on an empty stomach. I thought I’d share my morning detox routine with you – I love all of them and feel great when I get all three in.
My Morning Detox Routine
Shot #1
The first thing I do when I get to the kitchen is put about 2 ounces of water in a glass, and add a generous teaspoon of glutathione. It’s the liquid form, and most importantly it is liposomal. This means that it will absorb across the mucous membranes rather than getting “digested” per se in the gastrointestinal tract. Regular glutathione supplements that are not liposomal will have limited benefit because they are converted to a non-usable form in the gut. The biggest issue people have with liposomal glutathione is the taste. It is a sulfur-based compound, so I’m not promising it’ll taste like chocolate! But it’s sooooooo good for the brain, the liver and indeed every cell in the body as it is our master antioxidant. I used to mix it in with my Nanogreens but now I keep them separate to make sure I’m not losing any absorption.
Shot #2
Shot #2 is a mixture of 3 ounces of water, 1 tablespoon Braggs apple cider vinegar, 3 drops lemon essential oil and 3 drops grapefruit essential oil. Sometimes I’ll add Slim and Sassy too which has cinnamon and other great blood sugar regulators. Apple cider vinegar is one of those old grandma’s health tricks that’s been around forever – it has many health-giving benefits, including reducing Candida, helping kick start the metabolism, and making the body more alkaline. You definitely want raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to give you the best results, and to help the detox process. Lemon and grapefruit essential oils also help assist the body’s natural detoxification process. They are cleansing, purifying, and taste pretty good! I tend to use lemon in my water throughout the day for extra benefit, but if I do this shot in the morning, then no matter what happens the rest of the day, I’m off to a good start. My favorite brand is doTERRA.
Shot #3
Once the apple cider vinegar has had about 10 minutes to go down, I take shot #3 which is Nanogreens. This one is my treat of the three! This is a green powder that contains a huge array of healthy greens, herbs and nutrients, all in a powdered form that actually tastes delicious. It is sweetened with stevia so it does have a slightly sweet fruity taste, but nothing that is unnatural tasting. I find it so easy to drink, having tried a lot of really gross green powders. It has a ton of ingredients including the greens that you would expect such as spirulina, chlorella, barley grass, spinach, cabbage, broccoli and so on; but there are other great adjunct things too such as green tea extract, milk thistle, artichoke extract, kelp, acerola cherry powder and lecithin. These all ensure a great detox boost and nutrient boost, in a convenient and good-tasting form. I do 1 scoop in a couple of ounces of water, and love how it tastes.
During the time I’ve been writing this, I’ve been going off to the kitchen and having each one about 10 minutes apart. Now I’m all set for my day! And wouldn’t you know it … here are the little feet heading towards the living room. So with that I’ll sign off and go get my morning cuddles – have a great day everyone!
